[the long haul].

our house! 7 wegelegen.

finally here! after a long series of flights.. all of us made it safely and promptly to cape town, south africa!

3 hour flight to new york...
6 hour layover at jfk...
8 hour flight to dakar...
1 hour layover in dakar...
8 hour flight to johannesburg...
2 hour flight to capetown...

it was a long trip over here.. but it was completely worth everything! it is such an amazing feeling to finally be in cape town. it is more amazing than i expected. the weather is similar to the weather in minnesota, but just a bit windier. the people are amazing!

devil's peak.. view from the front of our house.

i just cannot complain at the moment! the whole day... i could not stop smiling! i do not want to list all the things i did today.. but i will give you some highlights of the trip so far.

- we saw rev run at the minneapolis airport. haha.
- got a tour of university of cape town.
- went down to the va waterfront. <- BEAUTIFUL! this blog may be really choppy because i have a million things i want to say.. but do not have the attention span to write it all down organized. the weird thing that we are getting used to in cape town is literally locking ourselves in our houses. there is a high crime rate.. so we have to make sure our house is locked up securely. but so far, i have felt safe. the interstudy staff are amazing and did an awesome job of making sure we are taken care of.

table mountain.. and the university of cape town.

i have fallen in love with south africa. the va front was pretty much the highlight of my day. it was just gorgeous. i wish i could put all my pictures up right now.

view from the restaurant we ate at.

the harbor at the va waterfront.

i apologize for the random/short blog. i feel like i am still trying to collect my thoughts.. and still in the process of realizing that i am actually here. i just wanted to let everyone know that i got here safely.. and i am having the time of my life!

Lovely blog posting, just lovely. I run a travel blog and originally chose it as blog of the week in our 2 Aug newsletter, and have now listed it in our top blog postings for 2008.

Keep up the great writing.
